The politician, who is still young in life, has survived two collapsed coalitions including the Ibizan scandal, erased all the scandals in his environment and always managed to put the right story at the right time: take an issue to the background, on his own heroic story to underline, or to get the population to do the sensible thing, if necessary with extreme fear scenarios. Anyone who had more than two additional questions on television encountered a wall of silence or was portrayed as stupid with a variation of “You won’t seriously believe that …”. The surface was polished at all costs.
This refusal to deviate even one millimeter from the dramaturgy itself shows further signs of wear in the midst of the crisis: when Kurz yells “Scandal”, observers no longer ask: Where? But: What is he doing this time? And if he is now styled as a “discoverer,” one wonders if this variation of “Hold the Thief” should further distract from other mistakes or offer voters an explanation as to why, of all things, the most perfect chancellor of all time it seems to be so unsuccessful. A pair of gray officers are a welcome projection screen: Sebastian Kurz saves. Our Chancellor has it under control.
Ironically, there would be no need to spin around or hero myths on this topic: everyone thinks that it is unreasonable that the EU does not collect anything when it comes to vaccination. Due to Kurz’s enjoyment of the PR stunt, even the most knowledgeable observers no longer know why.
Only one thing is for sure: it is no one’s fault.
