SK Rapid wants to extend the expiring contract with coach Dietmar Kühbauer. Managing Director Zoran Barisic makes no secret of this. Kühbauer himself now also provides information.
The Rapid Kühbauer coach’s contract ends in the summer. “But the most important thing is that we want to expand it with him. Didi just deserved it. If you take into account what the team was like when he took over, what it was like. He helped Rapid come out of the leadership of the crisis,” explained the director Barisic manager for the last time in 90Minuten.
“The crisis is not over yet and so far he has mastered it very well. There are no two opinions for me. Perhaps I can not only develop the club further, but reinvent it,” Barisic said.
Kühbauer: “I feel good”
The desire for further cooperation is mutual. That stems from current statements by Kühbauer himself. “It would not be bad if I could put the signature on the contract, I wish it before my birthday,” says Kühbauer, who will celebrate his 50th birthday on April 4.
“I feel good, the team is good for me. It will probably happen in the next few days or weeks.”
Kühbauer switched from SKN St. Pölten to SK Rapid in October 2018. Since then, Kühbauer has looked after the Hütteldorfer in 102 competitive matches and can look back with an average of 1.74.
