Petra Vlhova won the women’s slalom in Åre. In doing so, she prevented world champion Katharina Liensberger from winning the first World Cup.

Her first World Cup victory was within her grasp, also because Mikaela Shiffrin, who was still second after the first race, gritted her teeth at the time.
