Which countries temporarily suspend Astra-Zeneca vaccines?

Romania

Romanian authorities have temporarily halted corona vaccination with a batch of the Astra Zeneca Covid-19 vaccine as an “extreme precaution” while the deaths in Italy are investigated. Other doses from the company would continue to be used, a Romanian health authority said on Thursday.

Romania claims to have received cans from the same batch as Sicily. Of the 81,600 cans received in early February, 77,049 have been inoculated so far. The suspension will last until the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has completed its investigation.

Norway

Following the report of a possible death in Denmark related to a blood clot following vaccination with the Astra Zeneca vaccine, Norway is also suspending vaccines with the crown vaccine from the British-Swedish company Astra Zeneca until further notice. The Norwegian health institute FHI announced Thursday after Danish authorities announced a similar step a few hours earlier. Step has been added, taken as a precaution.

One wants to wait for information on whether there is a connection between the vaccine and the case, the director of FHI responsible for protection against infections, Geir Bukholm, said at a press conference in Oslo. Like the Danes before, the Norwegians made it clear that that connection had yet to be established. However, as a precaution, vaccinations with the Astra-Zeneca agent are interrupted while testing is being done, Bukholm said.

However, this pause does not mean that vaccines with the AstraZeneca product will be discouraged in the future. It is unclear how long the outage should last.
