The 332nd Vienna Soccer Derby saw no winner. The 0: 0 felt like a defeat for both clubs – Rapid was unable to turn chances into a win so the lead over LASK third melted to two points, Austria is now three points two laps before the end of the regular season a place in the top six of the master group.
“Maybe we can still finish with two wins,” Austria coach Peter Stöger said. His team barely radiated goal danger. Rapid, meanwhile, had a match point in the 90th minute: Christoph Knasmüllner’s header landed on the crossbar, while Austria goalkeeper Patrick Pentz saved Ercan Kara’s header brilliantly on the rebound.
