The death of a nurse is investigated

IAustria is investigating whether the death of a nurse could be related to a previous vaccination. The authority responsible for safety in the health sector announced this weekend that so far there has been no evidence of a causal relationship. However, until the end of the investigation, Astra-Zeneca will not inoculate the corresponding batch of the substance.

The reason is that the Lower Austrian Clinic Zwettl received two reports in close succession after a vaccination of the flock in question. A 49-year-old nurse died last weekend as a result of severe bleeding disorders. He had received a first vaccination ten days before. A 35-year-old woman had developed a pulmonary embolism, also a few days after vaccination, but her condition has since improved.

The health authority indicated that there were no “data or signs of concern” regarding thrombotic events in the available studies of the Astra-Zeneca vaccine. However, due to the temporal coincidence, an autopsy of the deceased was ordered “to fully clarify the cause of death.” That will take a few more days. The right-wing FPÖ party demanded that the Astra-Zeneca vaccine be no longer used at all until a connection to safety is ruled out.

Meanwhile, several FPÖ politicians, including parliamentary group chairman and former interior minister Herbert Kickl, were reported for allegedly violating crown protection measures during Saturday’s demonstrations. A FPÖ demonstration in Vienna’s Prater also escalated when the police wanted to take people’s personal data after the official end.

According to the police report, “a large number” of people broke into the underground car park of a nearby insurance building. A security guard was seriously injured and suffered a broken leg. 22 people were arrested on suspicion of “various criminal offenses” (such as breaking and entering). Four policemen were injured during his operation on Saturday. In total, there were 60 criminal charges and 3,000 administrative charges related to various demonstrations against the Corona measures.
