FC Liefering claimed second place in the table with an uncontrolled win against Horn, while GAK suffered a setback against the Young Violets in the promotion run.
While second-division FC Liefering maintained their second place with a 6-2 win over Horn, GAK left points behind in Sunday’s promotion race. The Styrians couldn’t get past a goalless draw at home against penultimate Young Violets Austria Wien and after round 17 they are one point behind Klagenfurt’s Austria, which leads the group of teams willing to climb fourth in the table.
The guests raced towards the Graz Merkur Arena, which was released by the Bundesliga after turf problems, with defenders Christian Schoissengeyr and Christoph Martschinko, who were tested by the Oberhaus. Like GAK, Austria’s two-man team scored seven points in all four spring games.
