Villach won against Bratislava 3-2 after extra time, but is just one point ahead of Black Wings. Linz converted the match in Dornbirn and won 5: 3. Graz is out of the running after a 3: 4 in Innsbruck. In the Pick Round, KAC secured second place behind HC Bozen and a ticket to the Champions Hockey League.
The record champions Klagenfurt transformed a 0: 1 lead into a 3: 1 lead in the capitals of Vienna. Nicholas Petersen scored KAC’s third win of the season in Vienna with his goal after 36 seconds of overtime. The KAC set the second place and the starting place of the CHL in advance. A 7-0 win at Fehervar in their last national team round match was of no avail for EC Red Bull Salzburg. The bulls lagged behind the Carinthians tied on points, but at least they have home rights in the quarterfinals.
Linz makes it exciting
The Black Wings made it exciting against playoff contestant Dornbirn. League top scorer Brian Lebler managed to equalize 1-1 with his 32nd goal of the season, but then the Bulldogs fell away to 3-1. With four goals in a row, Linz’s men turned the game around, taking the lead for the first time through Will Pelletier (58th). Dragan Umicevic made it all clear with his goal in the empty goal (59th).
VSV gave up a 2-1 lead to Bratislava, but Jamie Fraser secured a 3-2 victory with 51 seconds into extra time, only the second win in Game 6 with the newcomer to the quarterfinals. Despite the loss of points, VSV has it all in their own hands in the last round on Sunday. However, a win at Dornbirn is necessary if the Linzers win at Graz99ers.
