Vienna (OTS / SK) – SPÖ party leader, club president Pamela Rendi-Wagner and SPÖ women’s president, women’s spokesperson Gabriele Heinisch-Hosek emphasized on Thursday at the “Red Foyer” that significantly greater efforts are needed to support women In the labor market. “For a year now, the corona pandemic has shown that it is above all women who are dealing with this crisis and maintaining society,” Rendi-Wagner said. The Crown crisis hits women more in the labor market than men: “Most women today experience their professional situation much worse than was feared at the beginning of the crisis” in Austria. Trust in public institutions has also fallen dramatically. “Now the federal government is called upon to act decisively, to support women and return them to employment,” demands the SPÖ leader. The deputy criticized, for example, that not half of the funds of the government’s labor foundation go to women. The SPÖ has already made many proposals in parliament to support women in the labor market. “We propose labor foundations in each federal state, tailored to the regional situation. A minimum wage of 1,700 euros must be paid during the training period, ”says Heinisch-Hosek. The SPÖ used International Women’s Day on Monday as an opportunity to convene a special session of the National Council together with the other opposition parties and discuss solutions. “On Monday we asked the chancellor why he doesn’t care how the women are doing. The sad thing is that women are among the great losers of the crown crisis. “Mothers raising their children alone are particularly affected by the crisis,” says Rendi-Wagner. Opinion researcher Christina Matzka (Triple M.) explained some of the results of the survey among 1,000 women aged 16 to 64: 85 percent of employed women declared that their employment situation had deteriorated: 66 in the last survey in April 2020 Expected percentage. 32 percent of those surveyed are afraid of losing their job, both in groups with higher education and with lower levels, this fear is also massive among those under 30 years of age.
