The possibility, introduced in the course of the corona epidemic, of simply having a phone call to the family doctor, has again been expanded due to the continuing risk of infection. Due to the large number of corona infections, the health insurance for workers and employees will now report sick by phone until May 31 of this year. This was announced on Wednesday by the health insurance company (ÖGK).
The reason for this is that there should be as few contacts as possible in medical offices. A contribution must be made to contain the number of corona infections, which has recently risen to around 2,500 cases in Austria. The sickness insurance fund sees the notification of sickness by telephone as a protection for the insured and patients, as well as for the doctors hired by the health insurance company.
Prescriptions for members may also be ordered over the phone. The insured can then collect the medicine directly from the pharmacy.
