Five clubs from the 2nd division have submitted their documents to obtain a Bundesliga license. The “Krone” reported on Wednesday. There may not be a permanent relegation from the typical Bundesliga.

Clubs can apply for a Bundesliga license until Wednesday. Five teams from the 2nd league are said to have done so: GAK, Wacker Innsbruck, Austria Klagenfurt, Austria Lustenau and the FAC.

As announced, favorite SV Lafnitz will not be promoted. The Red Bull Liefering cooperative association, currently in second place, cannot be promoted anyway and third-placed FC Blau-Weiß Linz has not submitted any documents.

If it remains in the current state of the table and there is no Bundesliga licensed club in the top two, there is no direct promoter of the 2nd division and therefore there is no permanent relegation from the typical Bundesliga. The top ranked team with a Bundesliga license would then play against the typical Bundesliga pool for a place in the first division. In the current case, this would be the GAK. 14 laps before the end of the championship, the Styrians are four points behind second place.

The Senate 5 first instance ruling on the awarding of the licenses will be announced no later than April 13, 2021.
