Shortly before the end of his term

Former US President Donald Trump quietly vaccinated himself against the corona virus shortly before the end of his term. Trump and his wife Melania were vaccinated in January at the White House, it was reported this Monday from the environment of the former head of state.

Trump himself has yet to speak publicly about vaccination. The 74-year-old had said several times after his crown disease last October that he considered himself “immune.”

Trump’s first appearance after electoral defeat

On Sunday, in his first public appearance since leaving the White House, he called on all American citizens to get vaccinated.

Experts warn that skepticism about vaccines in parts of the population, including many Trump supporters, threatens to make the fight against the pandemic more difficult.

Biden had been vaccinated in public

Trump’s successor, Joe Biden, was publicly vaccinated in December, a month before taking office, to build confidence in the new vaccine. Then-Trump Vice President Mike Pence was also given a shot in front of the cameras.

United States hit hard by Corona

In the US, more than 514,000 people have died as a result of a corona infection, by far the highest number in the world. More than 50 million people in the country have received at least one dose of the vaccine. That corresponds to 15 percent of the population.
