Tuesday comes in Curtain d’Ampezzo, a first in the history of the Ski World Championships. ME.For the first time, the individual decision of a woman and one of a man are integrated into an event.
With Katharina Liensberger and Stephanie Brunner, two Austrians have reached the final of the parallel competition in the alpine category Ski-World Championships in Cortina d’Ampezzo. Franziska Gritsch missed the top 16 by 1/100 of a second, Ramona Siebenhofer was left behind. The fastest was the Swiss Wendy Holdener ahead of the Slovenian Meta Hrovat and Tina Robnik, Liensberger had the fifth fastest time.
The format used is the one that was also used in the Lech / Zrs World Cup. First there is a qualifying (9am) with only one race, only 16 riders make the decision. In the final (2 pm) there are two races per duel, each athlete runs one red and one blue track. The distance between the doors is between 16 and 20 meters, and giant slalom skis are used. Before its parallel premiere on RTL, Stephanie Brunner marked the route on behalf of the team: “Just think I’ll be under 16 and then you’ll be gone.”
