Lisa Hauser couldn’t believe it when she looked at the bulletin board.

The pursuit of silver at the World Cup was a historic moment, only Austria’s second World Cup medal in women’s biathlon. 37 years after Andrea Grossegger in the Chamonix sprint, the Tyrolean made history.

Silver with the mixed relay ÖSV at the start of the World Cup was already incredible for Hauser, the individual medal is now the dream bonus.

In the APA interview, Hauser was visibly shocked by the big hit:

Ask: You were one of the favorites before the World Cup, how did you deal with the pressure?

Lisa Hauser: “I tried to stay calm in some way because after January a lot of people expected medals from me. I tried to focus on myself and stay relaxed. Somehow I told myself that January was already perfect. And we already had an excellent start in the mixed relay. so I had less pressure in the sprint and the chase. Now I have the silver medal, it’s just amazing. With the mixed medal, there was a lot of pressure on me, but now it works again, I would never have dreamed of it. “

Ask: How did you experience the battle for the medals?

Hauser: “I didn’t have a perfect start because the first shot went wrong, but I tried to keep doing my job on the shooting range. After the last shot, I didn’t expect to be fighting for the medals. I thought the others are already ahead of me. I was surprised when I saw on the video screen that I was third. I told myself to attack on the ascent, it worked. “

Ask: Where did you get the strength from in the last lap?

Hauser: “I really had a good feeling on the last lap. I was surprised because it’s a long race and I already had yesterday’s sprint and mixed relay on my legs. But I had a good feeling and I still had enough energy on my last lap.”

Ask: Why are you doing so well right now?

Hauser: “I got off to a good start in December, but I had some shooting problems. After Christmas I worked a lot on the shooting range. Then I made my first podium in the first race in January. It gives you more confidence in yourself, everything works a bit lighter. It’s fun to run right now. “
