Gastronomy and hotels do not expect openings in the short term
The gastronomy and hotel industry in Austria does not expect it to be unlocked anytime soon, despite the announcement of possible new prospects by politicians on Monday. “The government is obviously not thinking that something could open in early March,” the Austrian Hotel Association (ÖHV) told the APA on Friday. In view of the number of infections and the mutant in Tyrol, the health policy would not receive much approval, they say there.
The heads of the hotel and restaurant associations of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKÖ) are invited to the Ministry of Health on Tuesday, but this is not confirmed there. The day before, one of the usual political meetings with virologists and other medical experts will take place with Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP).

Gyms expect to reopen in March
Since the start of the corona pandemic, gyms in Austria have been closed for more than half a year. The studios are constantly losing members and are trying, in talks with the Ministry of Health and Economy, to finally reopen on March 1. With corona tests, as you have to do before you go to the salon, for example, that could be accomplished, says industry spokesman Christian Hörl.
“We are in talks with the sports clubs to coordinate,” Hörl told the APA on Friday. “In fact, we were very optimistic that it should have started again on January 24, until the topic of these mutations became increasingly broad.” Now there are again some signs that would point to a start on March 1, “but always with the reservation of how things will go with mutations.”

According to the Foreign Ministry in Vienna, a quarantine-free test should be possible after five days with a negative PCR test result.
Exceptions
Brazil and South Africa are excluded from the freest. The Irish Ministry of Foreign Affairs website explicitly states that travelers from Brazil and South Africa will not be able to free themselves from the 14-day quarantine.
Until now, the stricter entry rules only applied to South Africa and Brazil. Austria, the United Arab Emirates and sub-Saharan Africa were now on the list of countries with variants of the coronavirus.
