The school could not open without the evidence obtained by the Minister of Education.
Until now, the Minister of Education, Heinz Faßmann, considered the question of who “overruled” who was “completely subordinate”. Understandable. Because since the outbreak of the pandemic, he has always pulled the shortest straw. Others have specified the way to school.
At least the minister has demonstrated this staying power. The children have now returned to school (initially only in Vienna and Lower Austria). That was only possible thanks to the test measures. And the department of education took care of the “nose tests.”
Neither the acquisition nor the distribution were perfect. And the reliability of the tests also leaves much to be desired. Only 50 percent of asymptomatic infected children will be found. You can’t deny that, but look at it another way. After all, one will find many symptomatic and half asymptomatic. Perhaps you can also discover family groups that otherwise would have spread undisturbed.
But not only in this sense the opening of the school can be considered a partial success for Faßmann. There are also many social reasons for this. Sometimes the psychological stress of the students was great. The University Clinic of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry sounded the alarm recently. In this area, the much feared rejection of patients is already taking place due to the large crowd.
In any case, the uncertainty remains. Given the openings and the mutation, the number of infections will increase. Then the partial success of Fassmann will quickly become “completely subordinate” again.
