Austria’s NHL hope Marco Rossi spoke about his coronavirus illness on Twitter on Monday. “Like most of them, I was initially surprised and disappointed,” wrote the 19-year-old from Vorarlberg. But now look positively to the future.
“At the same time, I am now very optimistic that my physical condition is and will be good enough to be able to train / play again. I know I will come back even stronger than before, ”said Rossi.
Relaxation in Vorarlberg
The ice hockey talent had traveled from the United States to his family in Vorarlberg, due to the consequences of the Covid 19 disease, as it became known over the weekend. His NHL team, Minnesota Wild, announced on Twitter that there were currently no plans for his return to the United States.
As Rossi’s father told the ORF, the forward would have to stay with his family in Vorarlberg for six to eight weeks to recover. Your son is now fine again, therefore all values have returned to normal.
More serious illness than expected
Rossi fell ill with Covid-19 during his stay with the Zurich Lions in November, but was later able to participate in the U-20 World Cup in Canada. It emerged over the weekend that investigations in Minnesota in early January found that the infection was more severe than initially assumed and that Rossi was unable to train as usual.
The club initially named a back injury as the reason
Minnesota had initially given an unspecified upper body injury as the reason for the forward’s prolonged absence. It is not known if this injury has ended or if Rossi has further disabilities in addition to the aftermath of Covid. The Vorarlberger had been selected by the Minnesota Wild in the fall and shortly after had signed a contract with the NHL club.
