In round 15 of the Typical Bundesliga, the duel between Austria Vienna and WSG Tirol was scheduled on Sunday. In an intense, exciting, sometimes high-class play, there was a 2-2 draw at the end.
The game almost started with a bang. After just 33 seconds, the hosts found their first great scoring opportunity. Fitz narrowly missed a pass from Pichler. After that, an intense game played on an equal footing. Austria Vienna had a slight visual preponderance, of which the violets, however, could not capitalize. On the other hand, the guests were very present and toxic from the first second. The Tyrolese found their first chance to score in the tenth minute from Yeboah. Before that, the hosts already had reason to cheer. In the 7th minute, the Violets went ahead with their second good attack. After a tee shot from Oswald, Teigl fights for the ball and his cross ideally reaches the back area of the penalty area. Erik Martel puts the necessary meters in the penalty area by direct acceptance to make it 1-0! Continue in the game. In the 18th minute, WSG Tirol found a double chance through Behounek and Schnegg. Then it was the turn of the violets with a double chance. Sarkaria and Teigl could have scored the second goal in the 29th minute. However, they did not act. At this point, the hosts had to change twice. The central and defensive midfield formed by Ebner (without outside influence) and Martel (after an attack by Frederiksen) had to be replaced early. In the injury time of the first half there was still half a chance. An overhead kick attempt from Pichler remained an attempt at the end. The break was 1-0.
After switching sides, the two teams took a few minutes of “artistic break.” At the end of the day, an “excusable period.” Because both teams should ensure an extremely intense and interesting game on the pitch in the second half. At first Austria had clear chances of being overweight. A Sarkaria free kick to the crossbar (55th) and another shot from the Austrian winger could have provided the second goal (56th). The next good opportunity for the hosts unfolds from the next corner. After a corner kick from Suttner, Koch saved just before the line (57). Another 60 seconds later, WSG goalkeeper Oswald saved with a great save against Pichler. In what feels like the best phase of the hosts, the guests placed the following exclamation mark through Frederiksen. His hammer missed the goal. 60 seconds later, contrary to the course of the game, the guests scored the tie. After Celic’s dream pass, Frederiksen pushed the ball into the net to make the 1: 1 goal, the violets began to swim. Now WSG Tirol was about to turn the game around. In the 73rd minute, the Austria goalkeeper Pentz saved Frederiksen, who appeared alone in front of him, and the Austria goalkeeper also had the best finish when Dedic shot.
It should be the starting shot for a final quarter of an hour, which really had everything that made a great football game. How about a great counterattack? Austria played so poorly in the 76th minute. This is what happened through Wimmer. How about an inexplicable mistake from the referee? The Violets should have been penalized in the 77th minute. A cross from Zwierschitz clears Pranter’s ball into his own ‘Statue of Liberty style’ penalty area. Referee Drachta, but also his assistants, have an excellent view of the situation and let the game continue. An “inexplicable” category outage! How about dusting the doors? Seen in the 85th minute. After a cross from Celic, Pentz deflects the ball towards his own crossbar. Handl lifted Behounek’s offside position and the Wattens defender accepted the double gift and scored the 2-1. How about a controversial success at the end? The final score 2-2 fell into this category. After a cross pass from Jukic, Pichler scored the fourth goal of the game. This was definitely very controversial. The guests claimed that the Austrian player was offside. Since there was no calibrated line in the TV picture, this situation cannot be finally resolved. However, the complaints tended to be justified. It was not the only mistake of the referee at the end. More on that later. In injury time there was another yellow-red card: Austria’s captain Suttner scuttled from behind against his opponent Petsos and did not hit the ball. In the end, however, there was no discussion of this decision.
The final score in an extremely intense and very interesting game was 2: 2! Due to the scoring possibilities, you can definitely speak of a fair draw. This is also based on the fact that both teams would have had a chance to decide the game. At this point, referee Drachta must also be criticized! In addition to his colossal blackout in the penalty situation, he made a few other mistakes. One of the invited scorers was left without a yellow card despite three rustic attacks and a crystal clear swallow. Foul games where the opponent stepped on the opponent’s leg also go unpunished. Except for some weaker phases, this game had a lot of intensity and quality. The latter cannot be attested by the referee, even with the most positive point of view. In fact, it’s a shame because a good referee was really lacking for this game.
