Alois Ebner, spokesman for the Ried prosecution service, has now confirmed at OÖN’s request that an investigation has been launched into the threat to people from communicable diseases and falsification of evidence. The doctor, for whom the presumption of innocence applies, is accused of several points. According to Ebner, he is said to have issued “questionable confirmations” for the exemption from the mask requirement.
No symptoms confirmed prematurely?
In addition, there is a suspicion that the doctor has certified that people who tested positive for corona do not have symptoms. According to the prosecutor, this could possibly have happened prematurely or without the corresponding medical examination. He is also investigating alleged violations of the mask requirement, both at the nursing home and at ordination, Ebner says. Police were reportedly said to have been at the doctor’s office earlier this week. Several patients and the doctor are said to have ignored the mask requirement and distance rules.
The doctor declined to comment on OÖN’s request. The president of the Upper Austrian Medical Association, Peter Niedermoser, was unable to provide any information on the specific case. But the public procedure will be awaited, “only then will there be disciplinary measures,” he said. Especially with certificates of exemption from the mask requirement, everything has to work properly, says Niedermoser. Some of these certificates are currently being reviewed by the Medical Association to determine if they were issued correctly. (tst / mpk)
