Tutoring: Faßmann wants to alleviate the discomfort of the students with 200 million euros

Education Minister Heinz Faßmann explained at a press conference on Monday what emergency measures he wants to organize for school operations. To do this, it puts 200 million euros on the table, especially for a massive expansion of financing measures.

In principle, make-up hours should benefit all students, but especially those who have a particularly long learning delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, 10 percent of the financing fund is awarded to extraordinary students. They should be dedicated to places that have a greater need for language support (German support classes) or special socio-economic challenges.

Fassmann admitted that an “extremely difficult year” lay “behind us” and that normal operation would not be possible for the foreseeable future. But you don’t want everyone at school to go into “agony” as a result. Hence its new financing measures and millions.

In any case, he doesn’t want to talk about a “lost year” or even a “lost generation”, because distance education was not so badly accepted.
