In the gigapixel image of Lukas M. Hüller come together in a cynical and historic street art story to speak out against the government’s Covid management and stagnation of culture. The five photographs were taken in the summer of 2020 in front of Café Mozart in Vienna.
„Do not prescribe everything that amuses us! Haderer exclaims. “Take care, be careful and don’t drop anything,” Resetarits agrees. “Whoever is united in solidarity wins,” adds soccer star Hofmann. “Austria finally wants to take place againThen Hüller.
The artists jointly criticize the fact that the government does not pursue any enabling strategy and that people are deprived of all opportunities to demonstrate their responsibility. Art, culture, gastronomy and sport reflect the soul, creativity and optimism and are important catalysts for social life. The fact that important valves are closed to the public while the door and gate are opened completely out of relation to other fields of activity is a slap in the face to those who take the pandemic seriously and are willing to play by the rules.
„Art and culture should not be “silenced” with handouts. They are the breeding ground for a healthy society, but also the social responsibility that gives people a little hope and a ray of light, even in situations like these. And that’s why humor and satire are now even more in demand!“Hüller says.
Artists demand an enabling strategy that is based on a good balance of rights and duties. It advocates for greater personal responsibility, which has already been proven successfully in gastronomy, culture and sport.
„People wait for a ray of light that we can give them“, Hüller concludes.
Gerhard Haderer’s five photo overpaints will be auctioned in support of the “Artists Help Artists” association. The auction is planned after the Covid-19 measures have been relaxed and in front of an audience.
