Besides the question of getting back to regular lessons, there are other important decisions to make this week.
Last week, the government agreed on a test strategy with the SPÖ. On Monday they were still negotiating whether clients from the restaurant industry should also be evaluated. The amendment to the law reaches the Health Committee on Tuesday, and everything must be decided in the National Council on Thursday. Then we will regulate the details in a regulation.
Exit restrictions can only apply for ten days, so the main committee must extend Wednesday.
It is also unclear whether the restaurant sector, like the retail sector, will be able to reopen as of January 25.
What about vaccines? Today begins the extensive vaccination campaign in the federal states. The ranking, meaning that the elderly and nursing homes come first, is based solely on a recommendation from the National Vaccination Committee. The government is considering legally safeguarding this procedure with a resolution from the Council of Ministers.
