Sons Josef and Johannes work with us. “We started specializing in families in 2000 and we are still expanding.” The hotel has, among other things, a farm with cattle, goats, pigs, rabbits and other animals, an indoor swimming pool with a children’s pool, equestrian facilities including a riding instructor, large outdoor and covered play areas and a ski school for children right next to the house. Of course, there is babysitting and baby care and a children’s buffet. The hotel also organizes excursions, for example with ponies to the alpine pastures.
Sepp Viehhauser says that what makes the hotel so special is the space it offers. “We are surrounded by grasslands. Children want to move and here you don’t have to be afraid of a busy road.” When it comes to the number of beds, the 18 family rooms and suites have been deliberately kept relatively small. There is a clientele who appreciate him very much, says Viehhauser. 90 percent of Hüttschlager’s guests come from Germany.
Currently this is a problem. It is unclear when the German guests can return. In some German federal states, the semi-annual holidays were canceled due to the extended Christmas holidays. For the first time in almost 50 years, Sepp Viehhauser had a quiet Christmas season with the family without guests. “We didn’t know.” But he really couldn’t enjoy it. “We just stay afloat on subsidies.
