The number of new corona virus infections in Austria dropped significantly over the holidays. On January 3, fewer than 1,500 new cases were reported.
The number of new corona infections in Austria is stagnating at a low level. 1,466 new infections were reported on Sunday. Most of them were in Lower Austria with 332 new cases.
Corona infections by federal state
New infections since the last report are distributed among the Austrian federal states as follows:
- Burgenland: 49
- Carinthia: 113
- Lower Austria: 332
- Upper Austria: 194
- Salzburg: 274
- Steiermark: 80
- Tyrol: 215
- Vorarlberg: 52
- Vienna: 157
So far there have been 365,768 positive test results in Austria. As of today (January 3, 2021, 9:30 a.m.), 6,324 people in Austria have died from the consequences of the corona virus and 338,831 have recovered. Currently, 2,227 people are in hospital treatment due to the coronavirus and 363 of them are in intensive care units.
