A young Viennese fled Bavarian police on Sunday night with four Syrians in the car without documents. Shortly after Passau, however, he collided with a railing.

The alleged tugboat of a 24-year-old Viennese in the border area between Upper Austria and Bavaria ended in an accident Sunday night. The man had driven four Syrians to Passau in his car and entered a police checkpoint around 11:15 p.m. The Viennese did not stop, but instead drove back to Austria at too fast a pace, the department of Upper Austrian state police.

Chase accident

The Passau police started the chase. In the Innviertel community of Wernstein (Schärding district), the 24-year-old lost control of his vehicle and collided with the railing. A passenger was injured and was taken to Ried hospital. Since no one except the driver had a valid document with them, German officials detained everyone involved. The local police then provisionally arrested the Viennese on suspicion of smuggling and the Syrians under the Aliens Act.
