With 1,391 new corona infections in Austria, numbers well below the weekly average were reported on the Saturday after New Years Day along with another 14 deaths from Covid 19. In an average of seven days, 62 people died every day, the number of positive tests was just under 2,000. Hospital stays were also slightly reduced to 2,224 people (minus 19) and those of intensive care patients to 372 (minus eleven).

In the past seven days, hospital stays were reduced by a total of 231 people, a decrease of about 9.5 percent, and the number of intensive care patients decreased by 59 during the same period, which is almost the 14 percent. Of the total 364,302 people infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus to date, 336,933 have recovered, so after deducting the total of 6,275 people who have died since the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, there are now 21,105 active cases, as shown in the figures. of the Ministry of the Interior.

In numerical terms, Lower Austria leads with 287 new infections, followed by Vienna with 277 and Upper Austria with 262.
