As of January 15, 2021, the corona mass tests will begin, which also include the possibility of “free tests”. The first registrations will be possible from Monday, January 4. All the information here.
The background for this is the government’s plan that the closure with the tough measures currently in force should expire on January 24, but already on January 18 for all those who “break free.” The registration and dates for antigen testing in all federal states can be found on the online portal “Austria Testet”.
Start of mass tests in Austria from January 15, 2021
The offer of the Ministry of Health also includes the free telephone number for inquiries, which can also be used from January 4 to make appointments. People tested in the bulk test can re-enter retail, catering, and hotels on January 18 with a negative result, provided they also reopen there; otherwise, wait until January 24. The exit restrictions also exclude people who have suffered from crown disease in the past three months.
Possible registrations from January 4
- Records for Vienna, Burgenland, Styria, Carinthia and Upper Austria (except Linz) are possible directly on the website https://oesterreich-testet.at as of Monday, January 4; the exception is Carinthia, since January 8.
- Registrations for Lower Austria also takes place at https://notrufnoe.com/testung/ – Some municipalities start on January 15, but the main days are January 16 and 17.
- Registrations for Salzburg they are carried out via the “Österreich Testet” website, where there is a link to the country’s website. Here you can take a quick test on Monday, January 4 and 5, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
- Registration link for Tyrol can be found on the “Österreich Testet” website. The state is already providing a free and continuously available corona trial offer to all people living in Tyrol.
- Registration link for Vorarlberg also on the “Österreich Testet” website. In addition to area testing in mid-January, Vorarlberg also tests 31 companies and the 13 largest schools in the state. Starting on January 18, professional group tests will be held in the four districts and the Bregenzerwald and Montafon regions.

The “free trial” law was sent for your review
On the last day of 2020, the government presented the legal basis for “as free as possible.” The law must be assessed before January 3 and should come into effect on January 18 before the start of the possible planned openings. The amendment empowers people with a negative test and all those who are exempt from exit restrictions. The details are yet to be regulated by ordinances.
The government wants to use free mass tests regularly
According to the government, the infection situation should be reduced with free mass tests. Health Minister Rudolf Anschober (Greens) wants to present the specific rules for testing in the first week of January, then it should already be precisely defined which professional groups should be tested regularly, teachers and health professions they should be part of it. The legislative resolution for mass testing is also scheduled for early January.
