For Austria, the U-20 World Cup ends after the preliminary round. The ÖEHV team lost to the Czech Republic 0: 7 (0: 0.0: 4.0: 3) in the fourth and last game.
In the opening phase, Austria is stable again on defense, but there are very few dangerous moments on offense. Once again supported by an impeccable goalkeeper Sebastian Wraneschitz, it was 0-0 until the 26th minute.
So the Vienna Capitals goalkeeper can’t do anything against a shot from Kubicek that appears in front of him due to the darkened vision. A double from Lang (33rd, 39th) and another goal from Prikryl (40th) sealed the fourth loss in Game 4 before the final 20 minutes.
In these, the Czechs increase with Novak (42º), Jiricek (57º) and Mysak (60º). Wraneschitz faces again with more than 60 shots (61) and for 54 of them, the ÖEHV-U20 fires 15 shots on goal.
Austria finished the tournament against the top four nations Russia, Sweden, the United States and the Czech Republic with 1:29 goals in all four matches. Wraneschitz, defender Luis Lindner and captain Marco Rossi are chosen as the three best players of the tournament.
In fact, last place in the first World Hockey Juniors appearance in ten years, aside from the grouping for next year, has no effect. Due to the corona pandemic, relegation is suspended, including Austria, the same ten teams will compete again at the end of 2021. Eleven of the players from this year’s ÖEHV line-up will be able to play again.
