On the 30th day of the ICE Hockey League, the time has come: Fehervars’ winning streak is coming to an end!
The capitals of Vienna end the home team’s nine-game winning streak in Hungary and deserve to win 4: 1 (1: 0, 1: 1, 2: 0).
The Viennese take command from the first meeting and are in the lead after 13 minutes of play – Vause fights the puck defensively and picks up the pace, plays through Loney who only has to score on the empty goal – 1 -0!
In the central section, the people of the Danube follow suit. Kittinger brings the cross pass into the slot, Großlercher kindly reaffirms himself and uses his backhand (26th). But just two minutes later, Fehervar returns through Erdely, who defeats the Caps Pickard goalkeeper in the fall (28th).
In the 34th minute, Hari has a great chance to equalize with a penalty shot, but Pickard is alert and can stop the attempt with the schooner (34th).
The last third doesn’t bring a decision for a long time, but Fehervar looks a bit tired and gets 1: 3 1:57 minutes before the end. Fischer starts with a blueliner, Richter falsifies the unsustainable puck in the short corner (59º). Fischer rewards himself for his great performance and decides the game with the Empty-Netter (59./EN).
Fehervar has to accept the first bankruptcy after nine consecutive victories, but remains clear second in the table with 54 points, the capitals of Vienna (47 points) rise to the top positions and are third.
Graz coach Gustafsson made his debut
Jens Gustafsson’s first game as 99ers head coach wins! Out at KAC, the Graz team achieved a 2-1 (0-0, 1-0, 0-1, 1-0) victory in extra time.
In a goalless first half, both teams lack the brilliant offensive ideas. The most promising opportunities from Ganahl (2nd) and Hunderpfund (19th) or Graz-Crack Grafenthin (5th) become a goalkeeper affair.
The middle section is a bit more lively. While Dodero desperate from the blue on pole (30), Moderer pushes a rebound to the empty goal (31). After that, the red jackets are on the trigger, but not consistent enough against goalkeeper Nussbacher. Koch missed the tie through Deflection (33rd / slightly higher) and Hunderpfund (37th / Dahm parade).
Although the KAC is on the trigger in the last third, Graz almost scored the second goal. Fejes serves Grafenthin, who keeps him juicy from a few yards, but Dahm saves the KAC with a great hand save (44th). KAC’s efforts intensify and are finally rewarded with the equalization of Bischofberger (51st).
In overtime, the 99ers take advantage of a penalty against Koch. After exactly 35 seconds in excess, Porsberger hits a stopwatch from the left side serve circle in the corner of the cross – 2: 1 (62nd)!
Thus, for the first time after three bankruptcies, the Graz team came off the ice rink as the winner. In the table, the 99ers are seventh with 35 points, the KAC (45 points) is fourth.
Salzburg confirms uptrend
The hit streak continues for EC Red Bull Salzburg. In the home game against HC Innsbruck, Mozartstädter held the lead with 5: 1 (1: 0, 4: 1, 0: 0).
Salzburg had the best start to the game. The bulls rush towards the goal of HCI goalkeeper McCollum, who excels at shots from Schofield (1st) and Joslin (11th). On the opposite side, Bär unpacks a hammer just before the blue line, which Lamoureux can catch with his left arm (13th). Only three minutes later, the doorbell rings for the first time, when Baltram hits the target in front of the orphan goal and pushes backwards: 1-0!
In the middle section, the Innsbruckers receive the next blow to the neck from RBS crack Schütz (20th). Ciampini took a short-term turn with his connecting goal in the 27th minute. Innsbruck is close to leveling in phases before the Salzburg Express pass through Schofield (34, 38) and Raffl (38).
Given that the air was largely out in the last 20 minutes, only one Jakubitzka Blueliner, which McCollum stops with the glove, is dangerous (44th).
Thus Salzburg celebrates the second victory in a row and ranks sixth with 39 points. Innsbruck (34 points) is two places behind.
Dornbirn surprises leader Bolzano
The Dornbirn Bulldogs will be able to surprise on game day!
Thanks to a solid defensive performance against the championship leader Bolzano, the Ländle cracks obtain a deserved success 2: 1 (1: 1, 1: 0, 0: 0).
The “foxes” got off to a tailored start and took the lead in this game after seven minutes of play. Alberga fits in with Deluca, who lifts the puck over the DEC goalkeeper Östlund (7th).
Shortly before the third break, however, the Bulldogs respond when the weakest power play in the league hits. Jevpalovs puts the goal on the offensive with impetus, fakes the shot, but leaves it on the ground for Romig, who starts directly and surpasses the HCB goalkeeper Bernard (19./PP).
In the middle section, Dornbirn’s majority play again secures the early decision: this time Häussle puts the puck on offense, puts the puck in the slot of Jevpalovs (30./PP), who scores with a time timer -! twenty-one!
A few seconds after the start of the last third, it is the DEC goalkeeper who registers the surprising success against Catenacci with a great save (42º).
Bolzano remains pointless for the first time after ten straight games, but still holds the championship lead (54 points). Furthermore, the South Tyrolese fail once again to celebrate two successes in a row in Dornbirn. The Bulldogs remain in fifth place in the table with 40 points.
VSV decides that the laggards will fight a duel
VSV managed to make up for the lost Carinthian derby!
In a close duel against the Black Wings, the “Adler” finally remained victorious by just 4: 3 (0: 2, 3: 0, 1: 1).
Those from Linz have a dream start and, after nine minutes, pass through Kozek in the lead (9th). Shortly after a VSV Kosmachuk penalty expired, Lebler even made it 2-0 for Stahlstädter (15th).
In the middle section, however, the bottom of the table was hit with a stick: Kosmachuk scored the goal 1: 2 just 25 seconds after the restart and Collins even managed to equalize (32./PP). Shortly before the end of the third, Caron changed the game in favor of Villach (39th).
In the final 20 minutes, Wachter made the preliminary decision early when he was able to maneuver a rebound at the net without being forced (42nd). After 56 minutes of play, Dan Ceman pulled goalkeeper Kickert off the ice and Kozek tied his double (58th), but it was finally 4: 3 for VSV.
The Villachers can differentiate themselves from the Black Wings and are now tied with the free Bratislava Capitals for 10th place (29 points each), the Black Wings are still clearly at the bottom (17 points).
