FC Barcelona is making its way into the football season in Spain.
Without the superstar Lionel Messi, who watched from the stands after a special vacation in his home country, Argentina, the Catalans did not go from 1-1 (0-0) against SD Eibar, a candidate for relegation, on Tuesday.
Ousmane Dembélé saved Barcelona at least one point: the French scored to equalize in the 67th minute. Kike García (57.) had given Eibar the lead after a bad foul by defender Ronald Araujo.
Forward Martin Braithwaite also had an unfortunate night: the Dane missed a penalty in the eighth minute, and the attacker finally scored in the 25th minute, but the VAR denied the goal for offside. Barcelona’s gap with leader Atlético de Madrid, who has played two fewer games, is now seven points.
