Personal responsibility and common sense instead of a “crown party”: avoiding fireworks protects health and protects the environment

Vienna (OTS) The use of fireworks is regulated in the Pyrotechnics Law. In principle, the use of fireworks is also prohibited in the local area on New Year’s Eve. Mayors are free to make exceptions for certain parts of the local area.

The President of the Association of Municipalities, Alfred Riedl, and the Minister of the Interior, Karl Nehammer, call on citizens to refrain from fireworks outside the local area. “This year also has special demands on the turn of the year and how we celebrate it.
