The package is intended to help struggling citizens, boost the troubled economy, and provide additional funding for vaccines and the fight against coronavirus. Democratic and Republican leaders in Congress agreed to the package Sunday after months of negotiations. In the spring, the United States Congress had recently launched stimulus packages totaling about $ 2.7 trillion (2.22 trillion euros), corresponding to more than 10 percent of annual economic output.
The new legislative package includes additional financial assistance for small and medium businesses and a temporary increase in unemployment benefits of $ 300 per week. Additional money is also planned for schools and for the distribution of vaccines in the country. The legislative package, with which, among other things, the federal government budget was approved, consists of more than 5,000 pages.
