Seven magic minutes gave SV Guntamatic Ried a positive end to a turbulent 2020: until minute 48 they were 3-1 behind in the Bundesliga against Tirol 0-1, the Vikings converted the deficit in the second half through Marco Grüll (penalty), Bernd Gschweidl (53rd) and Ante Bajic (55th) but still in the first away win of the season.
After parting ways with coach Gerald Baumgartner, Gerhard Schweitzer had to step in as a substitute coach once again and, following the sensational success against Rapid, he also won his second game as manager. Immediately after the game he said goodbye to the team in the victory circle. “With the Wattens game my work for the first team will be over.” The atmosphere inside Tivoli Stadium was also lively: Ried’s booth party was still in full swing an hour after the final whistle.

Conversation with Brunmayr
Ried’s next manager also has the highly successful temporary manager to thank: with all three in Tirol, the Black-Greens spend the winter six points ahead of Admira in ninth place.
As reported, one of the main candidates for the coaching position is Blue and White manager Ronny Brunmayr. Yesterday he was still sitting in Wolfsburg, where he last sat in Oliver Glasner’s experience, during the game against Stuttgart in the stands. According to information from OÖN, there will be a meeting with the greats of the Ried club in the coming days. Klaus Schmidt’s name comes up over and over again: but there has been no personal contact with the former Admira coach yet.
Salzburg’s interest in Rieds Grüll is no secret. Was it your last goal in the Ried jersey yesterday? “We’ll see. Nothing has been decided yet.”
