Vorarlberg and Christmas visits: the following entry rules will apply from December 19, 2020

Only from Finland, Ireland, Iceland, Norway and the Vatican can travel to Austria without restrictions. Entry, especially by plane, is only accepted with direct flights.

The entry regulations in Austria have been changed since December 15, 2020. The following provisions will enter into force on December 19, 2020.

Entry is possible without restrictions:

  • by people in regular transit (at least 1 per month) for professional purposes (except for caregivers),
  • by people in regular traffic (at least 1 per month) to fulfill family purposes or to visit their partner,
  • for urgent and unpredictable reasons that are particularly worthy of consideration (such as serious illness, death, funerals, births, emergency care),
  • for the use of absolutely necessary medical services

– of Austrian citizens,
– by people who have been granted a treatment agreement by an Austrian hospital for medical reasons that deserve special consideration,
– by persons subject to compulsory medical insurance in Austria,
– re-entry of persons residing in Austria,

  • of people entering Mittelberg (Kleinwalsertal), Vomp-Hinterriss or Jungholz,
  • for overriding reasons of animal care in individual cases,
  • for overriding reasons for the necessary agricultural and forestry measures in individual cases,
  • to maintain the traffic of goods and passengers,
  • of people crossing foreign territory (e.g. Great German Corner),
  • for occupants of emergency vehicles and public service vehicles,
  • for the crew of a repatriation trip (return of sick / wounded) including the organs of the public security service.

To enter from the Risk areas such as Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein (based on a 14-day incidence of more than 100 per 100,000 population) a ten-day quarantine is generally required. For this purpose, the attached “Obligation of Quarantine” form should be filled out and submitted during verifications if possible.
At the earliest on the fifth day after entry can be a molecular biological A test for SARS-CoV-2 or an antigen test for SARS-CoV-2 can be performed. A negative test result prematurely ends the quarantine. The same applies to entry from the named states (risk areas) if it cannot be shown that the last ten days were only spent in one of these states or Austria. The costs of the tests will be borne by you.

Ticket in particular

  • of humanitarian forces,
  • – by people traveling for professional reasons (for example, 24-hour service, seasonal workers),
  • – a companion when entering the country for medical reasons,
  • – by persons who are fulfilling a mandatory judicial or official duty (for example, summons to a court hearing) have a medical certificate confirming a negative COVID test (maximum 72 hours) possible. If this certificate cannot be presented, a ten-day quarantine must be initiated immediately. If a molecular biology test for SARS-CoV-2 or an antigen test for SARS-CoV-2 performed during this time is negative, the quarantine is considered to have ended. The costs of the test will be paid by yourself.

The ten-day quarantine may end prematurely in order to leave Austria if it is ensured that the risk of infection is minimized as much as possible on departure. It should be noted here that egress occurs in such a way that other people are not in danger (for example, by greatly reducing contact with people outside the home or by taking appropriate protective measures).

With a view to further containment of the development of COVID-19 infection in the country, Regional Councilor Christian Gantner calls for entry and protection measures to be consistently enforced, especially in the Christmas holidays: Entry to Austria is not allowed for shopping trips.. “
