World champion Lewis Hamilton had to skip the Sakhir GP, he was crown sick. Now it’s clear: the 35-year-old Englishman will lead the World Cup final in Abu Dhabi!
Millions of Lewis Hamilton fans breathe a sigh of relief: their favorite driver has recovered from his crown disease and will be able to take part in the GP weekend in Abu Dhabi. The 35-year-old seven-time world champion has undergone numerous crown tests, all of which came back negative.
Mercedes writes: “We are delighted to be able to confirm that Lewis Hamilton will compete for us at the Abu Dhabi GP this weekend. Lewis tested negative for a crown on Wednesday before his mandatory isolation in Bahrain ended. Therefore, the government gave him permission to leave the country on Thursday to travel to Abu Dhabi. “
“Lewis underwent another test upon arrival, in accordance with the regulations of the Abu Dhabi health authorities, which also came back negative. Lewis has thus fulfilled the requirements to be able to enter the Formula 1 paddock and normally participate in the GP weekend from Friday. “
“George Russell will return to Williams and drive the final championship round of the season there.”
The FIA announces: “According to the order of the competent authority in Bahrain, Lewis Hamilton had to remain in isolation for ten days after the crown disease. The guidelines stated that he would need a negative test to finish those ten days. That was the case. Upon arrival in Abu Dhabi, another test was performed, at which point Hamilton was re-quarantined, as is the usual procedure. Only when this last test was also negative was he allowed to break this isolation and return to his team bubble. “
“The regulations have not changed: no one enters the paddock without a negative Corona test. This test should not be longer than 24 hours. Since Hamilton can present two of these events, one from Bahrain and one from Abu Dhabi, he will be allowed to enter the Yas Marina Circuit paddock from Friday. “
