In a serious accident in Frankfurt am Main, a BMW off-road vehicle struck several people on a sidewalk. Two of them died from their injuries, police said.
In the afternoon traffic accident, the car struck two pedestrians and a bicycle messenger. According to investigators, the car went off the street at a curve around 4 pm in Ostend and hit the wall of a house.
Three people who were on the sidewalk were seriously injured. They were taken to hospitals. There, a 62-year-old pedestrian and the cyclist died. The third victim is a woman.
The “Hessenschau” had previously reported on the fatal accident. Consequently, the car should have suddenly started rolling.
The identity of the driver is not yet clear.
According to the police, the identity of the driver was initially unknown. It was also unclear how many occupants were in the car at the time of the accident. The police are now asking for evidence.
Last year there were four deaths in a serious accident with a sports vehicle (SUV) in Berlin. At that time the vehicle had run off the road because the driver suffered an attack.
