In Vorarlberg, the number of people actively infected with the coronavirus rose again on Friday.

After a multi-day decline at the beginning of the week, the number of actively infected people rose again on Friday for the third day in a row. There have been 363 new infections since midnight Thursday, compared with 229 recoveries.

The number of actively infected people was 4,300 cases (at 4 pm). Four patients died in connection with the corona virus on Friday, bringing the number of corona deaths to 86.

The situation in hospitals is stable

The number of intensive care beds in the Vorarlberg hospitals has increased again. Since Friday, 79 intensive care beds have been available nationwide instead of the previous 71, reported the operating company of the Vorarlberg hospital. Currently, 40 of the 212 hospitalized patients with Covid-19 required intensive treatment, four fewer than on Thursday. Due to increased capacity, initially 24 intensive care beds were available for all patient groups.

In contrast, capacities in normal rooms were significantly higher. Of the 432 normal beds for crown patients, 260 were initially unoccupied. The emergency supply center at the Dornbirn fairgrounds is also ready for use from Friday. If necessary, 200 crown patients can be accommodated there.

Slightly relaxed staff situation

Compared to the previous day, the staff situation in hospitals has improved significantly. While 93 employees were still in quarantine as contact persons on Thursday, there were only 63 on Friday. 115 employees (nine fewer than the day before) were absent due to a positive corona test.

Districts

Most of the active corona cases are still in the Bregenz district (1,405). They are followed by Feldkirch (1,175), Dornbirn (1090) and Bludenz (579).

Municipalities

As of Friday afternoon, the number of cases in 12 communities was (much) more than 100, with the city of Dornbirn (558) ahead of Bregenz (328), Feldkirch (314) and Lustenau (307) leading the way. Only three of the 96 municipalities in Vorarlberg were free of the corona virus.

The seven-day incidence is falling

According to the crown board of the Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES), Vorarlberg improved significantly with the incidence of seven days per 100,000 inhabitants on Friday. With 594 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days, Vorarlberg was now behind Salzburg (657), Upper Austria (636) and Tyrol (630).

Austria’s average on Friday was 479.

The four districts of Vorarlberg currently have an incidence of more than 530 days in 7 days. The Dornbirn district continues to be the worst hit in Vorarlberg.
