It is a black day for Austria. As new infections appear to slowly stabilize, death rates skyrocket.
For the first time since the start of the pandemic in the spring of this year, the number of Covid patients who died in one day is in the triple-digit range. In the last 24 hours there have been 109 deaths, according to data from the Interior Ministry.
The massive increase broke another sad threshold: Meanwhile, a total of 2,054 infected people in Germany have died.
The measures of the partial blockade of November 3 are already noticeable in the case of new infections. With 7,091 corona cases the number is still in the critical range, there is a risk of overloading intensive care units with around 6,000 new infections per day, but at least it appears to have reached a plateau for a few days. Since November 13, the number of corona patients who are active at the same time has stabilized at around 77,000. Health Minister Rudolf Anschober talks about stabilization for the first time.
The previous peak of new infections in 24 hours was reached two days earlier, according to the AGES panel. On November 11, 9,231 positive cases of corona were registered. This number may differ slightly from the report of the Ministry of the Interior published on the same day, since cases with the date the test was performed are entered and subsequently entered in the AGES board. The BMI reports the current status on a daily basis based on the positive test results counted for the respective (previous) day.
