More recoveries than new infections in Vorarlberg – Coronavirus –

In Vorarlberg, the number of recoveries significantly exceeded that of new corona infections on Saturday.

172 new infections were recorded between midnight and 4 pm, compared with 398 recoveries. The number of actively positive Covid-19 infected people dropped from 4,601 to 4,372 cases. The intensive occupancy rate in hospitals remained tense, but did not increase. Three more corona deaths were also reported.

In Vorarlberg, 66 people have died from or with the virus. In the country’s hospitals, 184 corona patients were in hospital treatment on Saturday, 34 of them, one less than on Thursday, were in the intensive care unit. Of the intensive care beds available nationwide, 14 remained free, three less than the day before. There were also no major changes in the number of infected hospital employees. 117 tested positive for the corona virus, 106 other employees were quarantined as contact persons.

As of Saturday afternoon, there were 19 municipalities in Vorarlberg with more than 50 actively infected. In twelve municipalities, the number of cases exceeded (by far) 100, with the city of Dornbirn (562) ahead of Lustenau (352), Bregenz (335) and Feldkirch (280) leading the way. Almost three-quarters (73.7 percent) of all active coronavirus infections in Vorarlberg were distributed among these 19 communities. Only five of the 96 municipalities in Vorarlberg were free of the corona virus.

Most of those actively infected are still in the Bregenz district (1600), followed by Dornbirn (1232), Feldkirch (1109) and Bludenz (582).

7-day incidence

According to the crown board of the Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES), Vorarlberg had the worst value of all Austrian federal states with the incidence of seven days per 100,000 inhabitants on Saturday. With 816.8 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days, the state was ahead of Upper Austria (769.5) and Tyrol (658.9).

The Austrian average was 543.8.

The four Vorarlberg districts currently have a seven-day incidence of more than 670. The Vorarlberg “hotspot” with an incidence of 976.5 remains the Dornbirn district.
