According to a current survey by the Society for Consumer Research (GfK), 54 percent of Austrians want to get vaccinated against Covid-19 if a vaccine exists.
Rudi Anschober, Minister of Health: “The survey shows that the majority of Austrians would like to be vaccinated against Corona. My goal is to achieve a vaccination rate of at least 50 percent. Therefore we are currently creating the conditions for this as part of the EU procurement process and we will provide a sufficient quantity of vaccine for 8 million people. Everyone living in Austria should be able to get vaccinated on a voluntary basis. “
Start in the first trimester
Europe is making good progress in the search for Covid-19 vaccines. The EU Commission has negotiated a delivery contract with the pharmaceutical companies BioNTech and Pfizer and will officially approve it in the coming days. Contracts have already been signed with three other producers. In addition, negotiations are ongoing with three other producers.
Anschober: “We have a good chance of receiving the first deliveries of vaccination doses to Austria in the first quarter of 2021. A rigorous safety review is the key factor in the approval process. We are currently preparing the vaccination strategy and vaccination logistics. “
