BECAUSE: He could even succeed Joe Biden in office one day: the first black woman to the presidential seat, leader of the free world.
“A revolutionary decision,” wrote the New York Times when it was nominated. The senator from California is said to represent the new America. After the electoral victory, the liberal world has high hopes for the 55-year-old.

Anyway, who is Kamala Harris and what makes her stand out?
- Harris was born on October 20, 1964 in Oakland, California.
- He has Jamaican (father) and Indian (mother) roots.
- He studied political science and economics in the capital, Washington, and law in California.
- In 2003, she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. There he made controversial decisions: during the election campaign, he promised never to seek the death penalty as a prosecutor. He did well, but protested after killing a policeman.
- She was the second African-American woman to be elected to the United States Senate in 2016. In early 2019, she announced that she was running for the Democratic presidential race. His campaign quickly lost momentum. But it was clear: she is fighting for higher things.
What role does Harris have in choosing Biden?
► Harris is a person of color: In times of the “Black Lives Matter” movement, this was considered extremely important. As the daughter of a Jamaican economics professor and an Indian physician, she provides an identifying space for the 30 percent of non-white Americans.
► Harris offers a small goal: As California attorney general and attorney general, Harris took a hard line and stayed behind the police. Accusations that Democrats wanted to throw America into chaos will bounce off her.
► Harris is resourceful: As a senator, she earned a reputation as a tough and well-prepared negotiator. She shows humor in TV appearances, but she’s also good at delivering.
