Events without assigned seats are prohibited throughout Salzburg. The ninth graders will move on to homeschooling in the central area of Salzburg.

Salzburg is tightening its measures due to the increasing number of corona infections. The situation is “dramatic,” Governor Wilfried Haslauer (ÖVP) said on Thursday. If the number of hospitalizations continues to increase as in recent days, in just under two weeks you will be “at the supply limit”, so there is an “absolute need to take measures to avoid entering a confinement.

One community is particularly affected: “The situation in Kuchl is completely spiraling out of control,” Haslauer warned. The place is under quarantine and entry and exit are prohibited, except for deliveries of systemically important goods and workers. Exit restrictions apply to the approximately 7,400 residents of Kuchl. Only sports, hiking, neighborhood help, and shopping are allowed. Hotels and bars in the community must close.

Education traffic light in “orange”

Haslauer announced that the Tennengau will go “red” Thursday night at the Corona light. Furthermore, the education traffic light will turn “orange” (in consultation with the Minister of Education, Heinz Faßmann). Flachgau, Pongau, and the city of Salzburg) switched to homeschooling.

Unassigned seating events (indoor and outdoor), as well as private gatherings outside of the living room, are also prohibited statewide. There is a maximum limit of 100 people for funerals. Salzburg is introducing compulsory registration in the restaurant sector. Premises that do not collect data must close.

The measures apply from October 17 at midnight to November 1 at midnight.

“Many have symptoms, but they cannot be assessed”

State Medical Director Petra Juhasz complained Thursday of an unwillingness to cooperate in parts of the population. “We couldn’t find any more groups in Kuchl,” he explained. “There was no longer any cooperation in specifying potential contact persons for infected people. Many have symptoms but cannot be evaluated so they do not have to be quarantined.” Even social networks are asked not to cooperate and not adhere to the measures.

Less than two weeks ago, the incidence of 7 days per 100,000 inhabitants in the state of Salzburg was around 30, according to AGES it already reached a value higher than 100 on Wednesday afternoon. The Tennengau has a seven-day incidence of 352.8. Cases per 100,000 inhabitants (also as of Wednesday afternoon) across Austria with a clear advantage in the ignominious top position. Since Tuesday, private events and parties outside the living room are prohibited in the district.
