Led by superstar LeBron James: The Los Angeles Lakers claim their 17th NBA title and are tied at the level of the record-breaking champions Boston Celtics.
The Californians won the sixth game of the final series against the Miami Heat in Orlando / Florida with 106: 93, the best-of-seven series ended 4: 2.
James with fourth master ring
James fulfilled the title mission in his second season with the Lakers, the 35-year-old earning his fourth championship ring. The 16-time All-Star player had previously triumphed twice with Miami and once with his home club, the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The two-time Olympic champion is only the third player after Robert Horry (7 titles) and John Salley (4), who triumphs in the NBA with three different teams. For the fourth time in his career he also received the award as the most valuable player of the final series (MVP), only Michael Jordan (six) was chosen more often.

Ten years of drought end
A ten-year dry streak ended for the Lakers. Most recently, the franchise won the NBA title in 2010 with club icon Kobe Bryant, who died in a fatal accident in the spring. This year LA was in the play-offs for the first time since 2013.
