In Austria there are 609 new positive corona tests from Monday to Tuesday.
Most of the new infections are, as in previous weeks, with 308 in the federal capital Vienna. There are also 92 infections in Upper Austria, 68 in Tyrol and 45 in Lower Austria. The other new infections are spread through Styria (33), Burgenland (23), Vorarlberg (19), Carinthia (14) and Salzburg (7).
More and more hospital patients
There are currently 491 people in the hospital due to the coronavirus. 90 of them in the intensive care unit.
“The excessively high number of new infections is also reflected in hospitals: 491 sick people are already being treated in hospitals, representing an increase of 25 percent in one week. There are 90 hospitalized people who require intensive care. This number has also increased by a fifth in the last seven days. 49 of them are in intensive care in Vienna, ”explains Health Minister Rudolf Anschober in a broadcast.
In addition, the death toll is also rising from six to 796. “However, this is still comparatively low,” Anschober says, giving the go-ahead.
