The fall pay round with metalworkers begins Thursday morning. Collective bargaining in the metal tech industry with 127,500 employees is overshadowed by the economic effects of the corona pandemic. At 11 in the morning, the traditional transfer of claims from trade unionists to employer representatives in the Chamber of Commerce is on the agenda. Then the first round of negotiations takes place.

The Metal Technology Industry Association (FMTI) actually wanted to postpone the KV negotiations until 2021 due to the crown crisis, but the union was strictly against it. The metallurgical trade qualification is considered to set the trend for negotiations in other industries. For the metal tech industry, “there is no distribution this year” because 2020 is expected to be the biggest drop in production since World War II. The bargaining teams were downsized due to the crown, instead of numerous KV rounds things could go a bit faster this time.
