It was in these counties that the majority of new cases were reported in the past week.

On Monday there were 563 new infections by SARS-CoV-2 according to figures from the Ministry of the Interior (at 9.30 am) in the last 24 hours. So far there have been 38,658 positive results in 1,458,095 tests registered in Austria. This means that about 2.65 percent of the tests performed confirmed a coronavirus infection. There are currently 8,375 actively infected people in Austria, 767 patients have died so far, 29,516 are considered to have recovered.

This means that there have been an average of 731 new infections per day in Austria during the last seven days. As of Monday, 13,412 tests were recorded in the electronic registry (EMS), more than Sunday (around 12,500), but significantly less than Saturday (18,000). However, Health Minister Rudolf Anschober (Greens) told a press conference that the number of tests had not decreased over the weekend. Anschober hopes that the measures for bars, clubs and private events that took effect on Monday will improve the development of the Covid 19 numbers. “That should work,” he said. There are currently 364 Covid-19 patients undergoing hospital treatment. 67 of them are in intensive care units.
