In coordination with the federal government, tightening of the measures
Vienna (OTS) – The worrying development in relation to the increasing number of COVID infections is prompting the western federal states of Salzburg, Tirol and Vorarlberg, in coordination with the federal government, to advance the curfew on restaurants until 10 p.m. The measure will be limited initially three weeks and will take effect on Friday. Federal states have the option of an ordinance issued by the Ministry of Health.
The governor of Salzburg, Wilfried Haslauer, emphasizes the need for this measure: “Current development makes it imperative to bring a curfew to 10 pm, as one of the greatest dangers of spread can be traced back to excessive celebrations in nightclubs. . This measure aims, on the one hand, to avoid “private celebrations” (outside private apartments) in towns after curfew and, on the other hand, to protect the entire restaurant industry. Short-sighted recklessness is not only putting pressure on an entire industry, it is also threatening our entire country with travel warnings and a second blockade.
The Tyrolean governor, Günther Platter, takes the same line: “I am glad that the west axis is moving in unison and that this regulation is done together. I am fully aware that this renewed restriction is a serious blow to the already battered gastronomy. However, we have to take this measure to control the number of infections and reduce them again. It should not be that the carelessness of individuals endangers the health of many. “
The Governor of Vorarlberg, Markus Wallner, also sees an urgent need for the measure: “Due to the significant increase in the number of cases, we are also forced in Vorarlberg to carry a curfew at 10 pm Assessment of the various groups clearly showed that personal responsibility decreases significantly, especially at the last minute. By restricting the curfew, we feel compelled to counter this development. “
Coordination with the federal government
This joint step was already closely coordinated yesterday with the federal government, which had given states the opportunity to take stricter measures in advance.
“The rapid increase in the number of infections is not only a major challenge for our healthcare system, but tens of thousands of jobs are also at stake. The situation is becoming more and more dramatic, especially for tourism and commerce, and the task here is to save tens of thousands of jobs. Therefore, it was correct and necessary to take the joint decision to move the curfew to 10 pm, as a particularly high number of infections occurs at celebrations and lively parties. I hope that other federal states, especially those with high numbers of infections, will follow suit, “said Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz.
“We need measures at the national level and additional regional measures to limit the pandemic. It is good that three federal states are now in the forefront to achieve a curfew. As the Ministry of Health, we will implement the relevant legal measures! ”Said Health Minister Rudolf Anschober.
