Don’t have time now?
Apple introduced a new iPad Air as part of its special event. With its narrow edges, the new model looks more like an iPad Pro, but it comes without Face ID or a Lidar sensor. It is the first product with the internal A14 chip. In addition, the inexpensive iPad has been updated.
The first signs of life for the new iPad Air with a major redesign come from May this year, followed by a document leak in August. It is now official and not only has a few frames, but it will also be Apple’s first product with the new A14 chip, which is manufactured using the five-nanometer process, before the iPhone 12.
iPad Air (2020): Apple’s first hardware with the new A14 chip
As previously reported, instead of a 10.5-inch screen, the new model has a larger 0.4-inch 10.9-inch screen with True Tone technology and 2,360 x 1,640 pixels and support for the color space. P3. However, the fourth-generation iPad Air is just as big as its predecessor thanks to the greatly reduced bezels on all sides. The Touch ID sensor had to give way due to its shape resembling the iPad Pro and was relocated to the power button.
Apple is using its new A14 processor as a computing core for the first time. By doing so, Apple is breaking its tradition of installing its new high-performance processors in new iPhones first. Since the presentation of the iPhone 12 models will probably be postponed until October, they will now be the first on Apple’s new tablet.
The six-core SoC (System-on-a-Chip) should be 40 percent more powerful than the predecessor Air and offer 30 percent more graphics performance. The performance of machine learning has also been vastly improved. Additionally, Apple is replacing its Lightning port, as with the iPad Pros, with a USB-C port, which can not only be used to charge the device, but can also be connected to external storage devices and external displays. IPad Air also supports stereo audio sound in landscape mode. In addition, two cameras are installed: the front camera has a resolution of seven megapixels, the rear twelve megapixels. It is the same as found in the iPad Pros.
Apple iPad Air (2020) Kompatibel with Magic Keyboard des iPad Pro
The new iPad Air is compatible with Apple iPad Pro accessories, such as Apple Pencil and keyboard accessories. This brings the Air tablet closer to the Pro series, which the manufacturer has seen as an alternative to the classic laptop, especially since iPadOS.
The new iPad Air is available in five cool, partially new colors: rose gold, silver, space gray, green, and sky blue. The memory is 64 or 256 gigabytes. In addition to a WLAN variant, with Wifi 6 by the way, Apple also offers a 4G version. The entry price is 632.60 euros due to the VAT reduction, the LTE version starts at 769.10 euros; the new Air will go on sale in October.
iPad 8: inexpensive tablet with a fast A12 chip
Not only the iPad Air has been updated, but also the cheapest tablet in Apple’s portfolio. Changes to the more affordable model are not as massive as with the Air variant. The screen remains at a 10.2-inch diagonal with 2,160 x 1,620 pixels and a maximum brightness of 500 nits. Like its predecessor, the iPad is compatible with the Apple Pencil for sketches and notes.
Apple uses its 2018 A12 bionic chip as a processor, which replaces the previous model A10. Compared to the previous model, the new chip should be 40 percent more powerful and the graphics unit 20 percent faster. The basic memory is 32 gigabytes, so the iPad costs from 369.40 euros. The LTE version costs from 505.90 euros. The 128 gigabyte version costs from 466.90 euros, the LTE version 603.35 euros. Apple offers silver, gold, and space gray in terms of colors. It can be ordered now and will ship starting Friday, September 18, according to Apple.
