On Monday night, after hours of debate, the traffic light commission decided on the recommendation to change the districts to orange for the first time. This affects Vienna, Innsbruck-Stadt, Kufstein, Dornbirn, Bludenz, Mödling and Neunkirchen, according to a member of the APA commission.
In addition to the orange circuits, numerous districts have also been upgraded to yellow. Upper Austria is reportedly severely affected, with only Innviertel with Ried, Braunau and Schärding remaining green. In Vorarlberg it no longer looks greener. Because Bregenz and Feldkirch are yellow. Governor Markus Wallner (ÖVP) told the “Vorarlberger Nachrichten” that he not only agreed to this, but even demanded the new coloring.
The city of Graz includes Graz-Umgebung and Deutschlandsberg in the yellow sector. In Tyrol, Schwaz Landeck and Innsbruck-Land meet in the yellow zone. Many districts in Lower Austria are also new to yellow: St. Pölten, Krems Stadt und Land, Baden, Bruck, Gänserndorf, Lilienfeld, Zwettl and Wiener Neustadt Land. Wiener Neustadt Stadt, like Korneuburg, retains its yellow status.
In fact, almost no change at the moment
The wave of orange and yellow change is, in fact, less dramatic than it seemed at first. Because for the most part, the measures that were originally intended for Orange are not implemented at all. The APA learned that nothing will change in schools and events compared to the last agreed adjustment.
This means, for example, that there is no further reduction in event attendance or the possibility of homeschooling in high school. The purpose of the circuits is essentially just to increase awareness in the regions that are currently most affected by the pandemic. Appeals are made, for example, to comply with proper safety concepts in health and care facilities. According to the head of Bundestheater Holding, Christian Kircher, the announced Orange connection from the federal capital Vienna will initially have no impact on the performances of federal theaters. He had received the information that the current limit for visitors with assigned seats of 1,500 will not change for now, Kircher said Monday night at the APA.
It is uncomfortable for the restaurant industry when the curfew is advanced one hour before midnight.
The Vienna Councilor for Health, Peter Hacker (SPÖ), has “coincided” with the orange color of the federal capital at the crown traffic light. At the same time, he reported in the “ZiB2” that after initial information at schools and at events, no changes were made to the procedure. He was not surprised by the increase in the number of infections: “Now the epidemic is starting to get worse again.” Hacker also sees the fact that tests have to be faster: “I don’t want to say that everything is great because it is not true.” But they are already working on improvements.
