664 new infections in Austria – coronavirus –

According to figures from the Ministry of the Interior (at 9:30 am), 4,456 people in Austria are currently infected with SARS-CoV-2. 748 people died with or from the consequences of the coronavirus and 26,043 have recovered. The number of people who must be treated in the hospital for Covid-19 has also increased from 197 to 205. 39 of these people must be treated in the intensive care unit. They are three more than the day before. So far, 31,247 positive results have been obtained in Austria.

Most of the new infections were again recorded in Vienna with 387 cases, followed by Lower Austria with 94, Tyrol with 64 and Upper Austria with 50 cases. In Styria 31, in Burgenland 13, in Vorarlberg eleven, in Salzburg nine and in Carinthia five crown tests were positive.

In view of the sharp rise in coronavirus cases, Vienna calls for stricter measures to be reintroduced. Health Councilor Peter Hacker (SPÖ) announced in an interview with the APA on Thursday that he would discuss this with the federal government. Either new regulations are needed at the national level or the possibility of imposing regional measures, he explained.

The city council will report tomorrow, Friday, after the talks, what hardening it considers sensible, as announced. However, he indicated that there could be additional obligations to wear mouth and nose protection, as well as new regulations on the maximum number of people indoors or at outdoor events.
